2007 AQUANITA CHARITY GOLF DAY
For the 7th year golfers were treated to glorious weather at the Aquanita Racing Charity Golf Day at the Latrobe Golf Club. This year 80 contestants competed for the Blue Gum Farm Elvstroem Cup.
Show bags full of goodies from our generous sponsors were handed out, including the much sought after Aquanita Golf Day shirts, caps and stubby holders. All of which were quickly put to use. The sun shone brightly as everyone enjoyed the gourmet BBQ and savoured an hour to mingle and network with fellow owners and trainers. As the field headed off, there was much speculation about who would take away this years cup with many suspecting that last year's group led by long time Aquanita owner John Rothfield AKA Dr Turf had one hand on the cup.
After golf, players showered, changed, refreshed thirsts, before moving onto the second feature of the day, the Charity Auction and dinner. Host Rob Gaylard interviewed our celebrity golfers, Colin Little winning trainer of this years Cox Plate, Wayne Schimmelbusch AFL Legend about the Kangaroos future and Phillip Campbell about the effects of EI on Victorian Breeding. Karen Livingstone CEO of this year's charity "National Ovarian Cancer Network" gave a moving speech on ovarian cancer and the affects this disease has on women.
Winners of the day's Ambrose Competition were the team from Sport 927 led by Simon Gitsham. He along with playing partners Robert Davin, Peter Nicolas and Jeff Davies finished with 62 off the stick for a final total of 54.5 net. A fantastic score and a well deserved win for the boys who are also Aquanita owners. I'm sure they will be back to defend the title next year.
A great day was had by everyone who attended and I'm sure all participants will be eagerly waiting for the date of next year's golf day to be announced. I would like to thank Latrobe Golf Club for presenting the course in magnificent condition. Special thanks must go to our major sponsors for the day, Menere's BMW Brighton, Blue Gum Farm, Mornington Stock Feed, TVN, Fashion Club Wear, Southern Cross Feed, Le Pine Funeral Services, Southern Cross Feed and all the individual hole sponsors.

E - Trakka
Robert Smerdon has over 30 years of experience, but as he puts it "Not 30 years all at the same time"
Always on the lookout for ways to improve, Robert has sought out a new training tool to help give him the advantage over rivals. Robert is also testing the product on behalf of his fellow Aquanita trainers.
The new device is E - Trakka, invented by horseman Andrew Stuart. Andrew a competent rider and trainer is his own right recently featured E Trakka on the popular television program "The New Inventors" where his invention won an esteemed episode award.
E - Trakka has monitoring equipment that includes a heavy duty GPS tracking system and heart rate monitor; these are housed inside the saddle blanket worn under the saddle. Information is gathered during the horse's work out, and is then downloaded from the blanket to a computer after morning track work. The cutting edge information generated by E - Trakka provides the trainer with a simple informative "snap shot in time" about a horse's fitness, performance, recovery and potential that was previously unavailable. The graphs indicate to the trainer the horse's top speed and maximum heart rate. Over time a profile can be built on a horse to gain an insight into the fitness of the horse.
The product is simple to use and proving to be quite effective when used alongside traditional training methods. Foe more information on this product visit the website at, www.etrakka.com

Around The Tracks
• Eliza Mills took third place in the Eltham Pony Club video dressage competition as mentioned in the November newsletter. Eliza wrote a fantastic story about how she missed on going to the Melbourne Show because of the equine influenza and the restriction on horse movements. Well done to Eliza and to all the members of Eltham Adult Riders and Pony Club.
• Aquanita Chairman Peter Howell explained the naming of his talented filly Marveen to a group of interested on lookers recently. "Her grand dam was Polished and she is by Shiny so I called her Marveen. Marveen was the forerunner to what we now call Mr. Sheen" he said smiling. His smile was soon replaced with a frown when told that the cleaning product was called Marveer not Marveen. Peter had the last laugh when Marveen took out the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes
• Time for all good horse owners to start doing there home work. With the horse sales just around the corner now is the time to start looking at pedigrees and begin looking for your next race horse purchase.
