Tuesday, 20 July 2010: Shuttle sire Captain Rio added a UK black-type success to his CV when Red Badge won the Listed Steventon Stakes over 10 furlongs at Newbury.
The Richard Hannon trained three-year-old scored a length victory over his older rivals Distant Memories and Poet to notch his second career win.
Red Badge was purchased from the 2008 Doncaster August Sale by owner Michael Pescod for 46,000 pounds and has now amassed earnings in excess of 56,000 pounds with four minor placing's alongside his two victories including the Listed Fairway Stakes in May.
Captain Rio three-year-old crop has come to the fore in Europe and Australasia.
Since the start of the year his progeny have run the quinella in three black type events, two in New Zealand and one in England.

Liam Birchley's three-year-old Favela Star was an impressive winner at the Grafton Cup meeting while Alan Bailey's Rocket To Rio was the find of the autumn putting together four wins.
Favela Star was bred by FKC Soon and has proved a great buy for his owners Lakeview Stud who purchased him from the 2008 NZB Select Sale for $36,000.
From just four career starts Favela Star has now won twice and been second at his other two attempts amassing earnings of $35,000.
Captain Rio arrived back in New Zealand last weekend for the upcoming stud season.
