Son Of Snitzel Starts Stud Career

Sunday, 17 June 2012: Salade, a Group 2 winner of the Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill, will be the first son of leading young sire Snitzel to stand at stud.

Carrington Park Stud in the NSW Southern Highlands has acquired Salade for the 2012 season.

"Salade will be the first son of Snitzel to stand at stud and we all know Snitzel is proving to be a great source of speed in our country," said Carrington Park's Peter Beauman.

"Salade is an outstanding individual with a natural sprinter's physique and build which he should pass on in his progeny."

Salade  did what few horses can achieve by winning a Group race at his first start.

Trained by Bart Cummings, he made his debut with an outstanding win in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill beating Boys On Tour, Exceed And Exalt and Golden Archer.

Just seven days later he was asked to back up in the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes where he finished eighth after being checked in running.

Salade then sustained an injury which restricted his racing career to only five more starts for one placing.

Salade is by Snitzel (Redoute's Chocie x Snippets Girl by Snippets) from the winning Beautiful Crown mare Just As Beautiful.

Just As Beautiful's dam Just As Lovely (Bletchingly) is the dam of eight winners.

Snitzel is one of the hottest sires in Australia today, having produced 23 stakes performers in his first three crops to race including the G1 winner Sizzling and six other Group winners including Hot Snitzel and G1 placegetters Snitzerland and Aliyana Tilde.

* FASTNET Rock's son Hinchinbrook has attracted a full book for the 2012 season.

Yarraman Park Stud has announced that Hinchinbrook's book as been closed at 120 mares.

The G3 winner covered 119 mares last year.

:We capped his book at 120 mares and have had a big response to him again this year,” said Harry Mitchell.

“Magic Albert has had great results this year and is also very close to full.”

Hinchinbrook is three-quarter brother to Group I winner and leading sire Snitzel.

* FLYING Spur's Group 3 winner Primus has been relocated to Queensland after five seasons at stud in Victoria.

Primus (Flying Spur x Copa De Oro, by Hector Protector) stood at Chatswood Stud where he sired 12 individual winners from 88 named foals including Melbourne winner Apollo Creed.

He will commence duties at Queensland's Clear Mountain Fairview this spring.
