Friday, 22 June 2012: The only horse who has really given the mighty Frankel a run for his money is standing at stud in Australia this spring.
Coolmore's new shuttler
Zoffany gave the great horse the fright of his life when pushing him all the way to the line in the G1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2011.
The margin on the line between the pair was an ever diminishing three quarters of a length at the line, an indicator of the class of
Zoffany.
Frankel is now the winner of 7 G1s by a combined margin of 34 lengths at an average winning margin of 4.9 lengths and is officially recognised as one of the greatest horses of all time after his 11 lengths romp in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes over a mile at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.
Zoffany, by Dansili, was mature and precocious enough to win five races as a 2YO, including Europe's first G1 2yo race of the season.
He is grandson of the great Danehill and was the busiest stallion at
Coolmore in Ireland in 2012 as breeders flocked to him because of his race record, his looks and his outstanding action.
Zoffany will stand the 2012 season at
Coolmore Australia at a fee of $11,000 including GST.
