Tuesday, 26 June 2012: Zo Impressive gave shuttle sire Hard Spun his first G1 winner when she won the G1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park in New York.
Zo Impressive (Hard Spun x Zoftig) defeated two G1 winners, including G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Believe You Can to add her impressive record of finishing first or second in all of her starts.
A winner on debut at Gulfstream, Zo Impressive followed up with an allowance win at the same track then finished second in both the G2 Gulfstream Oaks and G1 Acorn Stakes, prior to her Mother Goose victory.
A homebred for Live Oak Plantation, Zo Impressive is out of the G1 Selene Stakes winner Zoftig, who has also produced G1 Acorn Stakes winner Zaftig.
Hard Spun has also sired G2 winner Red Duke and G3 winner Hierro and is the leading US second-crop sire by stakes winners with 10 black type winners.
Hard Spun's oldest Australian progeny are two-year-olds and include Group performer Coins and metropolitan winners Crystal Web and Textiles.
Hard Spun won the G1 King's Bishop Stakes and ran second in the Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup Classic.
Live Oak Plantation purchased Zoftig for $1.5 million at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale in 2008, the year that her daughter Zaftig won the Acorn Stakes.
Zoftig has a two-year-old colt by Distorted Humor and a yearling filly by Street Cry.
