Pear Tart
(Dehere) joined Gathering (Tale Of The Cat) and Small Minds (Canny Lad) as Thompson's third major winner and will now be set for the G1 Myer Classic at Flemington in the spring.
The 4YO mare is the sixth G1 winner among 73 stakeswinners by former Arrowfield shuttler Dehere (Deputy Minster), a dual G1 winner whose other local major winners have included Defier, Belle Du Jour, Bollinger and the recent Oaks winner Invest.
Bred by Tony Santic's Makybe Racing And Breeding, Pear Tart was a $45,000 Magic Millions purchase by Nathan Tinkler and has now won six of her nine career starts including her last four in succession and $584,000.
She is the second winner produced by the well related import Tangerine Dream (Sadler's Wells), a sister to the French Listed winner Sensible (Sadler's Wells).
Served last spring by Purrealist (Tale Of The Cat), Tangerine Dream is out of the French Listed winner Raisonnable (Common Grounds).
Tangerine Dream is a full relation to Longchamp stakes winner Sensible (Sadler's Wells) and is a three quarter sister in blood to another stakes winner, Special Gallery.
Her dam Raisonnable is a half sister to the US G1 winner Aube Indienne (Bluebird) from a family well known to Australian breeders as her fourth dam is Northern Dancer's great producer Fanfreluche.
Fanfreluche is also an ancestress of G1 winners and champion Australian-bred sires Flying Spur (Danehill).
She also features in the pedigree of the multiple G1 winner Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill).
