Sunday, 1 July 2012: Black Caviar's little sister is getting ready to take the first serious steps in her career.
Known as Pippa around the stable after the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, the $2.6 million yearling by Redoute's Choice from Helsinge has moved from trainer Danny O'Brien's Barwon Heads property to Geelong racecourse to continue her education.
The half sister to the world champion sprinter is owned by BC3 Thoroughbreds and has pleased her pre-trainer Kevin Newby.
BC3 representative Simon Marshall said the filly would be among the company's new season two-year-olds on display at the Geelong race meeting on August 10.
"She's a Grade A student," Marshall said.
"She's moved to Geelong racecourse for some experience with the older horses and has adapted to it very well.
"You only have to show her once and she takes to it and she's showing signs of being a real natural athlete.
"It's only early days, but she's certainly pleasing us with her progress."
BC3 will gallop a number of its new two-year-olds between races at the August 10 race meeting that have shares available for sale.
O'Brien, who has stables at Geelong and Flemington, will be the trainer of Black Caviar's sibling.
