Thursday, 5 July 2012: The revolution that swept Libya has extended to its bloodstock industry with an influx of high class stallions boosting the country's stud ranks.

Following the acquisition of Victorian sire Churchill Downs it has been announced that UK classic winner Kris Kin will join him at Al Shaab Stud in Tripoli.

Kris Kin (Kris S) won the 2003 English Derby before retiring to Derrinstown Stud in 2004.

He has since stood at Morristown Lattin Stud and Azienda Agricola Mandorli in Italy.

Kris Kin has sired 33 winners at a 46% strike-rate including stakes winners Altair Star (Germany) and Cima On Fly (Italy).

Kris Kin was trained by Sir Michael Stoute on behalf of Saeed Suhail to win three races topped by the 2003 Derby. He also won the Dee Stakes at Chester and ran third to Alamshar in the G1 King George.

He joins a roster of eight stallions at Al Shaab Stud, which is owned by Dr Amad Ashaab and his brother
Radwan.

The roster includes former Irish stallion Raise A Grand, Churchill Downs and Testa Rossa's Sydney winner Backdraft.
