: Excellent Art filly Blackman made a smart debut when scoring over 1100m at Geelong on Tuesday to continue a series of encouraging results for her young sire.
The David Hayes trained filly was sent off a well backed favourite to defy older rivals and a wide gate.
Breaking quickly, she showed good speed to establish a clear lead rounding the turn and stayed on strongly to score comfortably by a length.
Hayes has a good opinion of Blackman.
“She is still very raw, but she's always shown us nice ability and is a filly with potential,” he said.
“We were hopeful that she'd go close today after her promising trial last week and she looks capable at making her mark at a higher level in due course'.
