Sunday, 22 July 2012: Young Canny Lad stallion Grand Reve sired first winner from a first crop of only 12 foals at Scone on July 19 when the 2YO Crown Of Dreams won over 1100m.
Crown Of Dreams (Grand Reve x Tiara Miss by Beautiful Crown) was bought by MUswellbrook trainerPat Farrell for $4,750 at the 2008 Scone yearling sale.
Grand Reve, a Listed winner in Brisbane, is standing at Scone's Ilala Stud and had only one previous runner before Crown Of Dreams won at Scone.
Another young sire of note to produce a provincial winner last week was the regally bred Patronize, a son of Redoute's Choice now standing in Western Australia.
His first winner was the Jenny Graham-trained 3YO filly Enthusiasm (Patronize x Centamira by Centaine), just one two foals sired by Patronize at Kia Ora Stud in 2008.
Her dam Centamira was a Listed winner in New Zealand of the Avondale Classic and her second dam Adnamira (Lord Ballina) won the G3 Cuddle Stakes at Trentham.
Patronize has one crop racing in WA headed by brilliant youngster Jestpatim, who was placed in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Ascot prior to a four lengths win at that track in February.
Patronize is a three-quarter brother to leading sire Exceed And Excel and cost $750,000 as a yearling.
Trained by Tim Martin, he won at Gosford and Newcastle before hoof problems saw him retired after only four starts.
He left Kia Ora Stud to stand at Canardly Farm in WA and is now based at Darling View Stud.
