Friday, 3 August 2012: Champion juvenile sire More Than Ready has 61 nominations for the 2013 Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill next autumn.
The Vinery Stud resident sired successive Slipper winners Sebring in 2008 followed by Phelan Ready in 2009 and has since had consecutive mionor placings with Elite Falls, More Strawberries and Samaready.
He had five of his progeny in the final field this year.
New Australian champion sire
Fastnet Rock has the biggest number of Slipper entries with 96 followed by freshman hopefuls Northern Meteor (88) and More Than Ready's son Sebring (65).
Among More Than Ready's 2013 Golden Slipper hopefuls are:-
- Colt ex Elle Duccio - brother to Perfectly Ready and close relation to 2000 Golden Slipper winner Belle Du Jour
- Colt ex Polar Success – dam won the 2003 Golden Slipper
- Colt ex Common Smyzter – brother to More Than Ready's Singapore star Better Be The One
- Colt ex Oceanfast - half brother to Blue Diamond winner and Slipper placed champion filly Alinghi
- Colt ex Regimental Gal – dam won Magic Millions
He has other entries out of VRC Oaks winners Magic Miss and Samantha Miss and a filly from Sunday Joy, the dam of More Joyous.
More Than Ready has twice been the Champion 2YO Sire in Australia and emulated that feat in the US in 2010 when his two-year-olds won both divisions of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (Pluck and More Than Real).
Pluck is joining More Than Ready at Vinery this spring for his first Australian season.
