Friday, 17 August 2012: New Zealand Oaks winner Midnight Oil has been purchased by Australia's Tyreel Stud.
Midnight Oil will not race again. She has been retired after failing to recover from an injury sustained after her Oaks win at Trentham.
She was nominated her for the 2012 Magic Millions National Sale at the Gold Coast in June but was withdrawn prior to the sale.
Midnight Oil, a daughter of Keeper from Gilded Light (Gilded Time) raced eight times for four wins including the G3 Lowland Stakes and G1 NZ Oaks double in her last two starts.
She raced for a syndicate after failing to make a $20,000 reserve at the 2009 Karaka yearling sale.
She is the first foal of from Gilded Light, a member of a strong classic family that descends from dual Oaks winner Our Tristalight (Sir Tristram).
