Saturday, 18 August 2012: Yearlings by the world's leading sires will be showcased when the Arqana Deauville August yearling sale starts on Saturday.
This year's catalogue features 464 yearlings, split into two separate parts over four days.
Part one, on August 18-19 will consist of 183 lots, Part 2 is made up of 281 yearlings and will be held on August 20-21.
Last year's August yearling sale experienced a 12.9% gain in total receipts, with $40,511,362 (32,936,000 Euros) from 328 horses sold. The average sale price of $117,987 (95,924 Euros) was a 1.5% increase from 2010, but the $79,974 median (65,000 Euros) was a 7.1% drop.
The sale features foals by many of Europe's top sires including Galileo, Montjeu, Oasis Dream, Dubawi, Holy Roman Emperor, New Approach, Lawman and the most anticipated offering of seven yearlings from the first crop of 2009 European Horse of the Year Sea The Stars.
Among the Sea The Stars progeny is a half sister to multiple G1 winner Canford Cliffs.
Another 19 first crop sires will be represented in the August sale including Mastercraftsman, Le Havre, Soldier of Fortune, Naaqoos and Myboycharlie.
North American sires represented in the catalog include Arch, Bernardini, Dixie Union, Harlan's Holiday, Mr. Greeley, Smart Strike, Street Boss, Tapit, U S Ranger and War Front plus three by Australian champion sire
Fastnet Rock.
