Saturday, 18 August 2012: The Wadham Park unreserved dispersal in Melbourne on Friday proved extremely popular with buyers with Ravenous Lass and Swoosh recording the equal highest price of $100,000.
Ravenous was sold to John Leek and Swoosh was picked up by Danny O’Brien Racing.
The annual Darley reduction conducted as part of the August Thoroughbred Sale was also well patronised with Henshaw proving the highlight when selling for $60,000.
There was a 55% increase in gross sales on day two on Friday with 196 lots sold with gross receipts of $1,937,950 taking the overall aggregate from 289 sold to $2,914,200, up from $1,878,600 recorded last year. The clearance rate for the two days was 90 percent.
There were 178 individual buyers with investors from New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
