* NOTED wet tracker Second Effort  relished the heavy conditions to claim the first Group 2 race of the new racing season at Caulfield on Saturday in the P.B. Lawrence Stakes.

The son of Vinery's accomplished sire Mossman recorded his eighth win from nine starts on slow or heavy tracks to take his career earnings to $439,493, over eight times the $50,000 reserve that was on him when he was passed in as a yearling in Melbourne in 2008.

Trained by Clinton McDonald Second Effort (Mossman x-Relativity, by Geiger Counter) has won nine of his 22 career starts.

His dam Relativity who is a winning daughter of the Listed winner Western Zip (Zephyr Zip) and is the family of the G2 Waikato Gold Cup winner Singing Star (Danasinga).

* EXCITING filly Elite Elle  became the 40th stakes winner for her sire Shamardal when she kept her unbeaten record intact in the Listed Quezette Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Elite Elle (Shamardal x Mystic Elle by Encosta De Lago) has now won all four of her career starts to date for trainer Tony Vasil.

Her dam Mystic Elle has produced three winners from three runners to date including the stakes placed Classic Elle (Reset).

Mystic Elle is out of Richelle (Century), the dam of eight winners from eight runners including the stakes performers Esroh (Perugino) and

Cancanelle (Danehill Dancer), who was second in the G1 Australasian Oaks.

Elite Elle’s third dam Rich Habit (Karaman) was also a stakes winner.

Mystic Elle has been covered by Bernardini for the last two seasons.

* FLYING mare Mrs Onassis  repaid the decision to delay her retirement to stud with her dashing first-up win in the Listed Starlight Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.

Trained by Gerald Ryan for Gerry Harvey, Mrs Onassis is the 42nd stakes winner for her sire General Nediym.

The five-year-old was bred by Harvey from Miss Jakeo (Unbridled’s Song) and has now won six of her 13 starts and earnings of $159,530.

Miss Jakeo has produced five winners to date including the G3 winners Miss Judgement (Strategic) and Fifth Avenue Lady (Encosta De Lago).

Miss Jakeo's dam is the G1 winner Lady Jakeo (Last Tycoon), an outstanding producer of 10 winners including G3 winner Red Arrow (Red Ransom) and the Hong Kong stakes winner Able Choice (Dehere).

Ryan also trains a winning half brother to Mrs Onassis named Assassinate, by More Than Ready.

Miss Jakeo had her Redoute’s Choice yearling colt sell for $450,000 at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast sale

* ARTIE Schiller added another first-crop Group winner to his credit in Australia following the tenacious victory of Lady Melksham  in the G3 W.W. Cockram Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Lady Melksham ( Artie Schiller x Oak Park Carashan, by Keltrice) became the fifth stakes winner sired by in Australia by the Victorian-based sire.

She joins G1 winner Laser Hawk (Rosehill Guineas), Big Chill, Secret Liaison and Moving Money.

Lady Melksham was stakes-placed in the Listed AR Creswick Stakes at her previous start.

She turned back the clock for her trainer John Sadler as his first stakes race success came in the G2 Queen Of The South Stakes in 1987 with Lady Melksham’s grand dam Goblet (Loving Jim).

Lady Melksham has won four of her five starts and been placed third for earnings of $204,638.

Her dam Oak Park Carashan (Keltrice) was unraced and has produced five winners from five runners, including the stakes placed Posed To Win (More Than Ready).

* SIRES standing at Queenland's Glenlogan Park enjoyed notable success on Saturday with a Doomben treble and a Gold Coast double.

The standout was the Bradbury’s Luck mare Fire Up Fifi  who enhanced her growing reputation by posting yet another impressive win over the mile at Doomben., her fifth win from her last six starts.

Rob Heathcote trains Fire Up Fifi and also another of the Glenlogan Doomben winners Racing Heart , by Show A Heart.

The win took his earnings to almost $400,000 and he may be heading to NSW for next month's Wyong and Newcastle Cups

The last race on the program at Doomben saw two Falvelon geldings, Someday  and I’m Cool to complete the treble.

At the Gold Coast Bradbury’s Luck’s had a highly impressive debut winner King Magnusson  and Show A Heart  chimed in with another winner Solar Heart.

* LATE sire Rubiton now boasts 43 stakes winners after his six-year-old Freereturn  ( Rubiton x Early Bird by Karaman) won the Listed Regal Roller Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
