Monday, 20 August 2012: Snitzel's Golden Slipper Stakes runner-up Snitzerland boosted her reputation as one of the country's best fillies with a brilliant win in the G3 San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.

Racing for the first time since her Slipper second to Pierro, Snitzerland  jumped straight to the front and ran fast sectionals to outpace two other top juveniles from last season Driefontein and All Too Hard.

The Gerald Ryan trained speedster ran her last 600m in 33.57 seconds, giving he chasers little chance of running her down.

The daughter of Snitzel was bred by Arrowfield Stud and was sold as a yearling in Melbourne for $125,000 to Darby Bloodstock on behalf of prominent owners Neil Werrett and Steve McCann.

Werrett is a part-owner of champion mare Black Caviar but Snitzerland races in his own colours and is proving to be a great investment in her own right with earnings of $949,500.

Snitzerland (Snitzel x Monte Rosa by Fraar) has now won three of her six career starts and been placed second twice.

Her dam Monte Rosa (Fraar) was unraced and has produced four winners from five runners. Monte Rosa is out of La Nebbia (Zephyr Bay) making her a sister to the Group Three winner Nina Haraka, the dam of stakes winner Extension Of Time (Dash For Cash).

Snitzerland's yearling half brother by Hussonet sold for $140,000 last seqason while Monte Rosa was covered again by Snitzel in 2011.

The San Domenico has been a foundation race for top class sprinting three-year-with the recent winners including Foxwedge, Shellscrape, Duporth, Gold Edition and Charge Forward all winning going on to G1 success.

Snitzerland's main aim this spring is the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes over 1200m at Flemington, a race won by the 2006 San Domenico winner Gold Edition.
