Monday, 20 August 2012: Hard Spun Questing filly went to the top of her class with an amazing win in the G1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga on August 18.
The Godolphin owned filly won by nine lengths to record her second G1 win in succession after her easy victory in the Coaching Club American Oaks on July 21.
Questing went straight to the lead and ran at a fast pace throughout to win the Alabama in the fastest time since 1980.
Questing is out of the stakes-winning mare Chercheuse, by Seeking The Gold. She is from the fantastic family of Quiet American's multiple G1 winner Switch, and has a weanling by Cape Cross.
Shuttle sire Hard Spun's 13 stakes winners from his first crop include Questing and G1 Mother Goose winner Zo Impressive.
He is also the sire of European G2 winner Red Duke and G3 winner Hierro. His 25 stakes horses include a remarkable 15 in Graded/Group company.
He made a strong start to his Australian career last season when he sired more winners than any other Victorian-based first-season sire.
After Questing's big win another of his progeny Filare l'Oro sealed Hard Spun's tremendous day by becomimng his 13th stakes winner at Penn National.
At her previous start Filare l'Oro ran second in the G3 Virginia Oaks.
She is out of the Strike The Gold mare Elusive Gold who has already produced the G3 winner Goulding Green and the stakes-placed Baby Bird.
Elusive Gold is a half-sister to G1 winner Stop The Traffic and stakes winner Bionic Soul.
