Monday, 22 October 2012: Trainer Kelly Schweida has G1 ambitions for lightly raced three-year-old Better Than Ready after he lowered Randwick’s 1200m track record in Saturday's Listed Brian Crowley Stakes on Saturday.

Sold at the same weanling sale as star galloper Pierro, the rising Queensland star flew home to set a new track record for the 1200m - stopping the clock in a blistering 1.08.19.

The track record was previously held by Northern Meteor in winning the same race as a 3YO before he won at G1 level.

Better Than Ready  was originally purchased for $120,000 by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds at the 2010 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

He was bred and sold by Ian Smith's Edinburgh Park, the farm best known for producing Hong Kong champion Silent Witness and his Group winning half sibling Sister Madly.

Better Than Ready was again offered as a yearling when he was purchased by Schweida for $140,000 from the draft of Newgate Farm at the 2011 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Better Than Ready is the 107th stakes winner for Vinery's champion sire son More Than Ready and is the first stakes winner for his dam, the young Sydney winner Sally's World (Agnes World).

Sally's World is a half sister to the stakes winners Publishing and Miss Mooney Mooney.

They are all from the Magic Millions 2YO Classic runner-up Sally Magic, a daughter of G1 winning sprinter Keltrice.

Another More Than Ready three-year-old Brave Soul (More Than Ready x Soul Singer, by Danehill) finished third in the Brian Crowley Stakes.

More Than Ready added a second stakes winners to his tally on Saturday when Al Aneed (More Than Ready ex Al Anood by Danehill) won the Listed Gothic Stakes at Caulfield.

More Than Ready now boasts 107 stakes winners worldwide.
