Grand Lodge Dead

Wednesday, 24 December 2003: In particularly sad news for the breeding world on Christmas eve, proven Woodlands Stud stallion Grand Lodge is dead after failing to overcome injuries sustained from a paddock accident earlier this year.

The twelve year-old stallion was humanely euthanised this morning following a long battle to repair the injured left knee, which was damaged in a paddock accident on 4 September 2003.

Grand Lodge has been buried at Woodlands Stud, Denman.

Woodlands Stud General Manager Trevor Lobb paid tribute to the Scone Veterinary Hospital who treated the stricken stallion since the unfortunate accident.

“Woodlands Stud, in conjunction with their Grand Lodge partners, Coolmore Stud,
Ireland and Plantation Stud, England, wish to express their very deep
appreciation of the outstanding treatment, daily monitoring and personal
attention given to the horse by Dr Angus Adkins, Dr Jane Axon and the intensive
care unit staff of the Scone Veterinary Hospital in the Hunter Valley,” said Lobb.

On the racetrack Grand Lodge won four races and $942,276. His career feature wins included Royal Ascot St James's Palace Stakes. Gr 1, Newmarket Dewhurst Stakes. Gr 1 and the Newmarket Somerville Tattersall Stakes. Listed. He was also runner up in the Newmarket Champion Stakes. Gr 1 and the Newmarket 2000 Guineas Gr 1.

At stud Grand Lodge is the sire of the winners of over $39.1 m. and 34 individual stakeswinners. His top performers included Sinndar, Shogun Lodge, Freemason, Grandera, Indian Lodge, Queen's Logic and Ambulance.

The Grand Lodge line lives on with several of his sons now at stud including Sinndar and Indian Lodge.

I have just read this about grand logde, is this the horse fom USA if so i have 1 of his offspring "perchcourt steel" his dam is "scaravie" but a can not find any information on my horse
