Master trainer Bart Cummings can bring up his 10th Crown Oaks at Flemington today with the well bred filly Gliding.

Herculian Effort in the Metrop

Railings did the Metrop/Caulfield Cup double

Often it is the bone and muscle types that Tulloch Lodge produce that suits the Metropolitan.

Hence why she has trained plenty of them. In recent years it has gone onto produce some very good form lines of the rest of the Victorian Spring carnival. Of interest is that two recent Metrops have produced the Caulfield Cup winner. Could it happen again?

Camerons and Kenny Go Together

Collate raced on the speed to win

Even reduced to 1300m, the Cameron Hcp was a strong race for tough sprinters during the Spring.

It brings together those six furlong types who want to extend and those prospective milers looking to head to the Epsom Hcp. Weren't many better wins than Court's in Session who lumped 60.5 to score in 2006. Who might take the next Cameron now it is up to 1500m?

Many all time greats have used the Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick as an important cog in their Spring campaigns.

These include Phar Lap, Bernborough, Tulloch, Gunsynd, Kingston Town, Emancipation, Campaign King, Might & Power and Lonhro. Traditionally run over the famous Randwick mile, the Chelmsford has been run on four different courses in Sydney since the Year 2000. Check out the Chelmsford winners.

Take the Odds in the BMW

Eremein won easily in 2006

In one of Australia's few WFA contests over 2400m, some absolute superstars have taken the prize over the years.

There was a run of five years when Octagonal twice, Might and Power and Tie the Knot twice scored sensational wins. Because of its timing, most of the elite horses run as well as the occasional 3yo who are that much more mature and confident than they are in the Spring leading into a race like the Cox Plate. Then again roughies have also had success. Have a look at what's driving these champs to success in the BMW.

The Waterhouse Machine Powers the Ranvet Stks

Eremein went off as well as Bossy in the Ranvet

The first leg of the Rosehill WFA G1 double is best substantiated by looking at the band of winners.

From Peter Pan to Bernborough, Tulloch to Gunsynd, legends grace its page in history. Of recent years Beau Zam, Better Loosen Up, Super Impose and Grand Armee set Rosehill alight. There was the infamous upset by 3yo Myocard of the celebrated Cox Plate quinella and a much debated protest which ultimately denied Tie the Knot a big treble. But it has been Gai Waterhouse that has dominated it recently.

The Chipping Norton's marriage with Warwick Farm was rekindled with its winners having a long history of being WFA stars.

Speaking of the betrothed, Tie the Knot won it four times in a row from 1999 while Super Impose doubled as well. Consider Desert War, Grand Armee, Juggler, Pharoah etc and you see it has been a domain of the Waterhouse stable as well. Who will take this WFA test?

AJC Derby is Australia's Classic Test

Eremein was the last Guineas winner to win the Derby

Since the AJC Derby was moved from the Spring in 1977, it is easily the 3yo classic to win.

It's seen some infamous moments like the 1961 leg pull incident, Innocent King's near fall on the home turn then victory and of course the 1987 running when Shane Dye was given a penalty of six months for tactics on Imprimatur which allowed the more fancied Myocard advantage. You also have the excitement of the 'Derby of the Decade' when Octagonal, Saintly, Filante and Nothin' Leica Dane sorted out just who was king of the 3yos. Why not find another classical classic?

Eremein was the last Guineas winner to win the Derby

The Rosehill Guineas remains a good test for the young stayers but strangely it is not a great guide for the winner into the Derby.

We all remember the 3yo clash to savour when Octagonal, Saintly, Nothin' Leica Dane and Filante went over the line together in what was a sensational clash. See if we can work out if the Derby winner evolves here?

The Randwick Guineas a Worthy Classic

The AJC and STC move to spice up the Autumn 3yo classics has regenerated the old Canterbury Guineas.

While it was being changed around from 1900m during the day to the night to 1800m at Rosehill, the decision to reduce it to a mile and give it to the AJC in return for some other traditional AJC races has been a resounding success given the winners of the race. Let's check out some history as both the Randwick and Canterbury Guineas to find the first leg of the triple crown?

Fiumicino

Fiumicino became New Zealand Bloodstock's fifteenth individual Group 1 winner this season in the Group 1 STC BMW Stakes (2400m) at Rosehill on Saturday, a day when Kiwi-breds strengthened their grip on the Sydney Autumn Carnival through Vision and Power in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and Harris Tweed in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m).

The weight-for-age BMW was contested by Australasia's very best middle distance horses with Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner Viewed (Scenic), Group 1 Caulfield Cup winner Master O'Reilly (O'Reilly), Group 1 Ranvet and Epsom Handicap winner Theseo (Danewin), and Group 1 SAJC Oaks and South Australian Derby winner Zarita (Pentire) all lining up against eventual winner Fiumicino (Zabeel - Latte, by Maroof).

Carnegie Express one of the few Guineas winners to double up

An interesting pattern to take note of going into the Rosehill Guineas is the lack of winning form of the past winners. Basically if they didn't take out the Canterbury Guineas (which doesn't exist anymore) they have barely won a race. Check out the form.
