Not quite 12 months ago Fatkid emerged onto the big stage. As the winner of three previous races, Fatkid wasn't expected to be a major force in the $200,000 Group 3 Fortune Bowl over 2000m at the Chinese New Year meeting on February 4, 2011.

But the then four-year-old surprised quite a few and belying his $66 dividend scored a comfortable victory over Escamonda and Clint to give trainer Tan Hor Khoon a well deserved first Group race success.
