Welcome to the 2004 Golden Slipper Festival

The world's richest two-year-old race, the Golden Slipper, offering a record $3 million prizemoney, will be run at Sydney's Rosehill Gardens racecourse on Saturday April 3, 2004.

Since its inception in 1957 the Golden Slipper Stakes has been the Sydney Turf Club's showpiece event - but its reputation spreads far and wide.

Indeed, the Golden Slipper is the most influential event on the Australian calendar. It is the race that drives an entire industry as history shows its winners hold the power to determine the physical shape and genetic composition of Australia's future thoroughbreds.

Yet the Golden Slipper remains a race of dreams, casting a magical spell that galvanises public interest like only the world's greatest of races can do.

Its roll of honour features thoroughbred champions, great trainers and famous jockeys but all winners will always be remembered for their 70 seconds of fame on an autumn afternoon at Rosehill.
