Monday, 9 April 2012: Japan's triple G2 winner Rulership, trained by Katsuhiko Sumii,is heading to Hong Kong for the the G1 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin on April 29.
Sumii announced that he has decided that visiting jockey Umberto Rispoli, who won with Rulership in the G2 Nikkei Shinshun Hai last year, will partner him in the race.
“I decided on Rispoli because he won with Rulership once before. I will send Rulership to Hong Kong after getting him fit in Ritto.”
The five-year-old son of Air Groove is yet to win at the highest level but was fourth in last year's G1 Arima Kinen behind the horse of the year Orfevre at his first start after an absence of six months.
He then won the G2 American Jockey Club Cup in January but in his next start in the G2 Nikkei Sho he didn't run as well on the unsuitable soft ground to finish third.
Rulership will be flown to Hong Kong on April 21 after being in quarantine from April 13.
