Monday, 21 May 2012: Arc winner Danedream made a winning start to her 2012 campaign when she landed the G2 Grosser Preis Der Badischen Unternehmer at Baden-Baden on Sunday.
Last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine, trained by Peter Schiergen and ridden by Andrasch Starke, was only fifth in the Japan Cup in her final start of 2011 but was back in fine form taking out the G2 contest from Ovambo Queen and stablemate Silvaner.
Danedream carried the 128-pound topweight in the 1 3/8-mile turf test and may be seen at Royal Ascot next month.
IN ROME German colt Feuerblitz, ridden by Robert Havlin, travelled to Rome to win the 129th Derby Italiano at Capanelle on Sunday.
The German colt upset Frankie Dettori's mount Real Solution, previously unbeaten in three starts and winner of his two races this year by a combined distance of 12 lengths.
Real Solution could finish only sixth.
Feuerblitz scored by a short-neck from Stefano Botti's Wild Wolf. Botti also saddled the third home, Smoking Joe.
Real Solution had crushed Wild Wolf in the Premio Botticelli at Capanelle at his previous start.
