Monday, 18 June 2012: Gulveig, whom Williams had ridden to victory in her previous outing, provided the vehicle for another G3 win this time at Hanshin.
Gulveig, by Deep Impact out of Air Groove, had no trouble against her own sex over the 2000m. Christmas Carol, by the much lamented Agnes Tachyon, was second two lengths behind the winner, with Merveille d'Or a neck away in third.
At Hakodate it was the second favourite Dream Valentino who denied favourite Lord Kanaloa in the 1200m G3 sprint. Vizcaya, very much an outsider at around 200/1, was third with Pas de Trois fourth.
