Saturday, 23 June 2012: There is a nasty big black cloud hanging over Canadian racing as the Government wants to separate the income from slots from the race clubs' revenue.
This seems particularly harsh as the race clubs were made to add facilities, plus not charge admission or parking fees in order for the slots to flourish. They have, so now the Government wants to move the goal posts. Let's hope sense can prevail.
Meantime we have the Queen's Plate, the 153rd running of this popular G1, which is the oldest sporting event in Canada. This year's version has Strait of Dover on top at 3/1, River Rich on 4/1, Golden Ridge on 6/1 and Dixie Strike at 8/1.
