Sunday, 1 July 2012: The ground has seen the withdrawal of the O'Brien runners Was and Maybe from the Pretty Polly G1.
The
Coolmore people were very relieved when Camelot won the Derby as he evidently hated the ground, jinking left at one stage in the finish, and they are not prepared to risk the Oaks winner Was or Maybe.
That reduced the Pretty Polly to 5 runners. We still like izzi Top, and probably the O'Brien remaining runner Up and the Weld runner Sapphire.
Yesterday's Railway Stakes saw Probably definitely get the better of Cristoforo Colombo, with Tiger Stripes third.
The Sapphire Stakes went to Definightly the favourite with Judge 'n Jury 10/1 and Katia 20/1 in the minors.
The Derby, apart from the undoubted brilliance of Camelot, was a much better race from Born to Sea who challenged when Camelot did that strange jink, but once Camelot got back to business it was all over. Light Heavy stuck to the rail and stuck on for third.
