Sunday, 1 July 2012: With a great ride from Jim Crowley, Chester winner Ile de Re put in a great staying performance to win the Northumberland Plate at soggy Newcastle.
Figaro had led for much of the race but in the end the track and the trip took it's toll, leaving space for Crackentorp 16/1 and Icon Dream 20/1 to come through and take the minors.
At Newmarket Libranno won the Sunley Criterium without too many problems with Edinburgh Knight under William Buick second and Majestic Myles third.
Later at Newmarket leading jockey Paul Hanigan was taken to hospital after a horror fall and is reported to have a possible chipped elbow.
