Monday, 2 July 2012: With William Buick aboard, John Gosden's filly Izzy Top had no problems in securing the G1 Pretty Polly at the Curragh on Sunday.
With a severely depleted field she didn't have to do too much to get the prize money. For the record Sapphire ran second and I'm A Dreamer third. There was prize money for fifth and sixth but no runners to collect it. One would have thought that in the current economic climate somebody would have liked the 1900 Euros available for sixth.
Earlier the Grangecon had gone to Sendmylovetorose in an upset win over the short-priced favourite Time Verdict with Slope third.
The Friarstown was reduced to 5 runner and no problem for Famous Name who was 3 3/4 lengths ahead of Defining Year and a simllar margin back to Native Khan in third.
A lot of absentees also from the Curragh Cup which in the end went to Hartani from Midnight Soprano and Offer.
However the conditions have been such over the last three days that not a great deal should be taken away from this in the matter of form (unless it is for another bottomless track) except for Camelot's win which was sheer class.
