Monday, 9 July 2012: The Holywood Park Gold Cup went to Game on Dude ridden by his regular jockey Chantal Sutherland.
Sutherland became the first female rider to win this G1 feature race as her horse defeated the stablemate Richard's Kid, also trained by Bob Baaffert.
The Royal Heroine over the 1600m turf was an upset when Quiet Oasis won from Mega Dream and Briecat with Nereid fourth.
Over at Belmont Mucho Macho Man was mucho too good for the opposition in the Suburban. Hymn Book got the second money and early race leader Trickmesiter hung on for third.
At Monmouth their Cup G2 over 1600m saw Rule hold out Flat Out who was closing sharply. Both horses were returning from a long time off the track and looked good. Sloane Ranger, who led for most of the race, stayed on for third place.
The G1 United Nations was no problem for Turbo Compressor, giving Todd Pletcher a double for the features. This gives him entry to the BC Turf. Air Support and Al Khale were next home, with Slim Shadey unimppressive.
At Calder in the Princess Rooney the lovely Musical Romance improved on her second in the race last year to hold off the challenge of Nicole H, with Nakano third.
The Smile Sprint went to Gantry, who gets an entry into the BC Spring with this win, which was impressive. Indiano was 5 lengths back with Close It Out, the distance between them being a very small nose.
