Tuesday, 17 July 2012: Dermot Weld would like to see an improvement in the weather ahead of Princess Highway's bid for the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh on Sunday.

The County Kildare trainer has won the fillies' Classic twice, with Blue Wind (1981) and Dance Design (1996), and believes the Moyglare Stud-owned three-year-old has a good chance of making it number three.

Princess Highway booked her place in the Group One contest with a six-length romp in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot, beating Epsom Oaks third The Fugue.

"Princess Highway is in great form. We would prefer a dry week as she would rather better ground but she is a definite runner," Weld said.

"She's in good form and she's all set. We'd like the weather to pick up because she's a filly with a lot of pace, but she handled that ground on the day at Ascot and she's very adaptable and she's very well.

"It would be lovely, and be our third time if we could win it. Classics are hard to win and they don't come easy, so we are well aware of that," Weld told At The Races.
