Saturday, 21 July 2012: Elas Diamond hits the comeback trail in the £40,000 Listed Newsells Park Stud Stakes (3.10pm) over a mile and a half on the July Course at Newmarket tomorrow, Saturday, July 21.

Trained in Newmarket by Jeremy Noseda, the daughter of Danehill Dancer was a very useful two-year-old in 2010. She was runner-up to subsequent Group Two UAE Derby winner Khawlah on her debut at Newmarket in September of that year, before taking a mile maiden at Nottingham the following month by a hugely-impressive 12 lengths.

Her third and most recent outing came in the Listed Montrose Fillies' Stakes on the Rowley Mile on October 30, 2010, when she was the length runner-up to Blue Bunting, who went on to win three Group One races in 2011 including the QIPCO 1000 Guineas.

Elas Diamond , who races for her owner/breeder and race sponsor Newsells Park Stud, was forced to miss last season but Jeremy Noseda is looking forward to her return to the racecourse.

He said: "Elas Diamond is a filly that I really liked as a two-year-old and I felt that, as a three-year-old, she had a chance of making up into an Oaks filly.

"Sadly, she got very sick and we were forced to have the year off. We have taken all the time in the world bringing her back and she is pleasing me at home, although she is not an extravagant worker.

"I'm sure that she will need the race and I'm a bit concerned about the ground. Ideally, she would be suited by fast ground and she still has to prove that she stays the mile and a half trip, although I believe that she will."

Jamie Spencer will partner Elas Diamond who is set face 10 rivals in the contest for fillies and mares, including the Queen's dual Listed winner Set To Music and Bible Belt, a Group Three winner trained in Ireland by Jessica Harrington.

The Newsells Park Stud Stakes is the highlight of a seven-race programme at Newmarket tomorrow, when the action gets underway at 2.00pm and runs through to 5.35pm.
