Tuesday, 24 July 2012: Champion older male Acclamation cruised to a repeat victory in the G1 Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar last weekend, extending his current winning streak to seven to earn the highest plaudits from his jockey Patrick Valenzuela.

"I'm going to say this now and I mean it - he's a great horse," Valenzuela said.

"I've been lucky enough to ride some very good horses - champions like Sunday Silence and Arazi and Best Pal.

"This horse is right there with them. No doubt about it.

"He fits. Any horse that runs the way he does, making all the pace himself, then comes home the way he did is a really good horse."

Trainer Donald Warren also offered his tribute.

"I think he is the best turf horse in the country at a mile and an eighth or more. Has anybody beaten him at it yet?

"Until they do, he's the best turf horse in the country. He's just developed into a wonderful, wonderful horse," Warren said.

Acclamation was coming off an historic three-peat in the G1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap and becomes the fourth back-to-back Eddie Read winner with his easy defeat of former Argentinean Horse of the Year Interaction.

He should now springboard to the G1 Pacific Classic over Del Mar's Polytrack on August 26, which he won last year in a thrilling stretch drive.
