York and Ascot host Group races

Saturday, 28 July 2012: At York it's the York Stakes, G2, over 2000m on going that is expected to be good to fast.


There's 11 horses entered headed by Afsare on 3/1. Planteur is 7/2, Jet Away 6/1 and Premio Loco, who chased Frankel's shadow last outing, is 12/1 but this track will be quite different and some of these may enjoy it a whole lot more, which is why we are forgiving Premio Loco his last run.

At Ascot the Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes is for the 2yo fillies. We have been following Maureen (from curiosity about the name for a horse by Holy Roman Emperor out of Exotic Mix) and she is 7/4. Hoyam has had three starts for two seconds and a win and hence the quote of 7/2, with Mick Channon's Sandreama at 5/1. 8 will run.
