It was Spirit Quartz who chased her home but the race on decent going for a change and despite her first time running downhill allowed her to score a decisive win. Masanah ran third.
Ortensia is expected to stay in Europe for a little while longer and tackle the Nunthorpe at York.
Earlier Quest for Peace gave Luca Cumani his seventh Glorious Stakes when Quest for Peace, who is schedule for a trip to Melbourne later in the year, defeated Dandino and the favourite Gatewood.
The Thoroughbred Stakes produced a thriller when Trumpet Major and Archbishop dead-heated for first. Favourite Aljamaaheer was unlucky getting blocked at a crucial stage. Trumpet Major will head to Longchamp and the Prix de la Foret.
Saturday's card sees Izzi Top run in the Nassau Stakes G1 over 2000m. She's at 15/8 for another Gosden/Buick win, with Nahrain 3/1 and The Fugue 7/2.
