2014 Caulfield Cup - Bande Scratched

Bande has been scratched from Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup after a Friday vet exam confirmed heat in his off fore tendon.

The Japanese galloper was well fancied for Saturday’s Group 1 feature at Caulfield however a veterinary examination of the horse on Friday morning confirmed him to be sore in the off fore tendon.

Bande was officially scratched from the Caulfield Cup on vets advice at 9.25am on Friday morning with Racing Victoria Stewards citing ‘heat and pain in off fore tendon’ as the reason.

The frontrunner’s scratching from the event results in third emergency Unchain My Heart gaining a start after Gris Caro and Dandino were scratched on Thursday.

Bande’s absence from the event also changes the complexion of the race with the son of Authorized expected to set up a genuinely run renewal of the Caulfield Cup.

Fourth emergency Renew may be in line to gain a run in the event with The Offer to undergo a vet inspection around lunchtime.

The Gai Waterhouse stable reported to stewards on Thursday afternoon The Offer was mildly lame in his off fore.
