Caulfield Cup winner Admire Rakti has been given a half a kilo penalty for the 2014 Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington.
Originally given 58kg, the Japanese-trained runner will now carry 58.5kg after his Caulfield Cup win, a weight no horse has carried to win the race since Think Big in 1975.
All eyes will now be on connections who indicated they would not accept for the $6 million race if Admire Rakti was given a penalty.
The six-year-old entire is currently the $4 favourtie ahead of Protectionist at $5.50 and Lucia Valentina at $8.
