Blake Shinn has been confirmed as the rider of the Chris Waller-trained Junoob in the Melbourne Cup on November 4.
Shinn will partner Junoob in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington with the Chris Waller-trained import currently prominent on the Order Of Entry.
The pair has developed a strong association through the spring having claimed both the Hill Stakes and Group 1 Metropolitan (2400m) in partnership.
“Very happy to confirm I have been booked to ride Junoob in this year’s Melbourne Cup,” Blake Shinn said via twitter.
Hong Kong-based Douglas Whyte rode Junoob when seventh in the Caulfield Cup last Saturday with Shinn electing to remain in Sydney where he rode a treble through the program courtesy of Kuro, Mulaqen and Mahara.

Shinn won the 2008 Melbourne Cup aboard the Bart Cummings-trained Viewed however has had just the one ride in the 3200m staying feature since when ninth aboard Precedence in the 2012 renewal.
