Beaten Up Out Of Melbourne Cup

Beaten Up will not run in the Melbourne Cup, elevating Sertorius into the top 24 on the cup order of entry.

Trainer Chris Waller confirmed on Wednesday that Beaten Up would bypass the Melbourne Cup to instead target the Queen’s Cup (2600m) on the final day of the Flemington cup carnival.

Beaten Up was number 24 on the order of entry so his withdrawal elevates the fringe dwellers one step closer to a start.

Sertorius now moves to number 24 on the order but is not yet guaranteed a start with the winner of Saturday’s Lexus Stakes earning a place in the field if still in the cup entries.

Moonee Valley Cup winner now moves up to number 25 on the order ahead of Secret Number, Dandino and Pondarosa Miss.
