Dandino Ducks In But Wins The Queen’s Cup

After missing a run in the Melbourne Cup, Dandino got some compensation with a win the Group 2 Queen's Cup.

Dandino was sent out an easing second favourite for the Queen's Cup, Godolphin's Secret Number the market elect.

Dandino tracked Secret Number the whole way around, Bonfire leading that pair around the back at a modest tempo, before the pressure went on approaching the turn.

Dandino was quickly travelling better than Secret Number, running up to him and passing him as they balanced up.

Dandino did roll in and take Secret Number's running but he was running away at the line and so there was no protest from James McDonald and Secret Number who picked himself up and held onto second ahead of Don Doremo.

Trainer Darren Weir heaped praise on Ballarat Veterinary Clinic who had helped this horse back to fitness after some suspensory issues over recent times.

Dandino also picked up the $100,000 bonus for missing a Cup start but winning the Queen's Cup.
