The Gerald Ryan trained Bachman will miss Saturday’s $1. 5 million Victoria Derby after injuring himself on the water walker at Caulfield on Wednesday morning.
Ryan reported that Bachman had suffered cuts to a hock and his back area.
He will require a spell but Ryan expects they will heal with no permanent damage.
“It is disappointing but that is racing,” he said.
Bachman was a G3 winner over 1400m at Rosehill in April and was third in the Listed Dulcify Quality over 1600m at Randwick to the subsequent Spring Champion Stakes winner, and Derby favourite Hampton Court on October 11.
Bachman was then sixth in the G3 Caulfield Classic over 2000m at Caulfield on October 18.
