Melbourne Cup hopeful Sky Hunter is suffering from a bruised heel and will need to pass a vet test before next Tuesday's race.
Racing Victoria stewards announced on Thursday that the Saeed Bin Suroor-trained stayer was suffering the injury to its left fore hoof.
Sky Hunter will undergo a vet examination before cup declarations are taken on Saturday.
Sky Hunter is safely in the cup field at number 17 on the order of entry.
Stewards also revealed that another fully-qualified international, Quest For More, had cast a plate.
The horse will also be subject to a vet examination before acceptance time.
The news of both issues came just minutes after stewards revealed that Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan was showing signs of a colic attack.
