RANDWICK June 14

Polytrack; Synthetic

9 Heats – 4 x 1080m  (1 Open; 2 2YO; 1 Maiden); 5 x 780m (1 open

You always have to take trials on the synthetic tracks on trust but there was some obvious quality on display here with several notable performances.

DE AN ANDRETTI (Ron Quinton): We tabbed this classy prospect when she had an easy trial at Randwick on June 3 and it now seems everybody has jumped aboard after this superb heat win over 780m. She had only three rivals but Andrew Atkins was content to sit wide to keep her out of trouble and you don't see many better trials on the poly as she cruised past the talented G2 winner KALLOS under a big hold to record the easiest of wins in the fastest time of the five heats over the distance (44.86; 32.32). She was injured after just two starts last year and it will be interesting to see what heights she can rise to when she resumes.

SECRET REVOLUTION (Peter & Paul Snowden): Just one placing from four race starts but a maiden win looks close for this Russian Revolution youngster if he can produce the same speed he displayed to run away with his 1080m heat by more than 10 lengths in fast time (63.65; 34.28), almost a second quicker than the next best time over the distance. Pulled his way to the front after 100m and kept extending the margin with Tommy Berry sitting hard against him.

SPORTS LEGEND (Les Bridge): First trial by this Deep Field youngster indicates he could be well above average. Had no trouble leading his 780m heat and was a class above his rivals cruising to the line five lengths clear, the feature being his fast closing sectional (45.23; 32.85) with Kerrin McEvoy keeping him under a tight hold.
