Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 17.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Geelong, Sunshine Coast, Goulburn and Coffs Harbour.
GEELONG: RACE 6 @ 3:30 PM
FERAGO (9) was a dominant winner at this track in lower grade last time, racing on the pace and winning by 4.25 lengths. He's up in class but should strike similar conditions and can win again. QUIET ESCAPE (10) is an interesting one, making her debut in Australia. She's coming off a listed win in Ireland, be very wary of the market as the stable can get them fit. CATSKILL MOUNTAIN (5) kept coming over 2000m at Ballarat last time out and is having a good preparation. Hard to toss again. BAZINI (8) narrowly got the cash at Hamilton last start and should run well in this tougher event.
SELECTIONS: Ferago to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Geelong Computer Card.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 6 @ 6:00 PM
PERSEIDS (1) has missed a lip the last three and they stack right up. Keeps a top hoop and comes back in grade. Tough to roll. RELIABLE RUBY (8) didn't have the best of it at Ipswich as favourite and go on the nose defeat there prior. Won first-up at Doomben prior and is a player with average luck from the awkward barrier. SISTA ELENORE (10) resumes and is up to this at best. Goes fresh and keep safe. PHANTOM SPIRIT (7) is a leader who peaks off three close-up efforts and has the rail and plenty of weight relief at this level. Will give a sight.
SELECTIONS: Backing Perseids.
GOULBURN: RACE 1 @ 11:55 AM
Hard to go past VYNER (3) in the opener after a narrow defeat at Wyong last time out. He jumped favourite that day and copped a bump 100m from home. This is much easier and he looks a class above his rivals. AUSBRED BLUEBIRD (6) wasn't beaten far last time out at Newcastle and steps out beyond 2000m for the first time. The rise in trip looks to suit, and she has plenty of upside being lightly raced. Drawn well and is sure to be there at the finish. PIONEER LASS (9) was only a length away at Gosford most recently when she stepped up sharply to this distance. She's been knocking on the door of a maiden win all campaign, and it wouldn't surprise to see her get the job done in this. FEUDALIST (2) disappointed at Hawkesbury just 5 days ago, but will appreciate this easier company. Keep safe. MAKADEEL (7) steps up in trip at his third start. Relatively unknown so any market moves must be respected.
SELECTIONS: Vyner looks the one to beat.
COFFS HARBOUR: RACE 3 @ 1:25 PM
TELEGRAPH (7) has been knocking on the door with four consecutive placings and this is not an overly strong affair. Looked handy last time out when runner-up in the first run for the new stable and can go right on with the job now. Will be right there when the whips are cracking. GEEWIZ JOHNNY (1) resumed in good order with a close-up second at Muswellbrook and will come on from that run. Looks a key player. ZOUHAVEN (11) wasn't disgraced when fifth on debut and has since been given time to furnish. Revved up for this with a solid Grafton trial and looks a top-three conveyance. JUST A TIFF (3) disappointed first-up but the form he showed when last in work was full of merit. Can bounce back to form. GOLDEN GALAXY (2) gets 2kg off with the claim and can earn a cheque.
SELECTIONS: Telegraph to win.
