Heard a song today about Savabeel.

Wasn't bad for a laugh but the bloke singing was ordinary.

Got me thinking though how next years Spring Champion Stakes winner will almost certainly run in the cox plate and half of you if not more will hype him like there is no tomorrow for the cox plate yet bagged Savabeel.

Infact I think a 3yo will start fav in next years cox plate whether he deserves it or not lol

At least a Champion Stakes winner always has at least a faint hope in the Cox Plate, because it will run the distance out. Unlike the Caulfield Guineas types the mugs usually delight in backing in Cox Plates.

Olifan... your post is the smartest thing you have typed on here...couldnt agree more. This season will be seen in years to come as a vintage 3yo crop.

As for the tip of Kings Chapel, well, you must be on something else. My tip at the moment is Plastered... although anything can happen in 10 months.

no idea but it wont be won by a 3yo unless the field is another weak one and they gift wrap it for him like they did with savabeel. sav has only won 3 races in his career and he'll be lucky to win another 5.

Binding looks the one at the moment taking improvement into consideration but it's just a guessing game.

I agree with mc comments. A 3 yr old won't win unless the race is weak and Savabeel is overated.

Peace
Insom

It will be won by a 3yo if they can run 2040m right out, and they are better at wfa over 2040m AT THE GOAT TRACK, than their opponents.

Take notes, children, you're obviously having difficulties.

ps, I have had two bets on 3yos in the Cox Plate in the last 20 years. I won't be so immodest as to tell you who they were.

Picking 3yo winners of the Cox Plate is as easy as falling off a log, lol.

Too early to say. All I can say is that Savafluke won't win unless they package it up for him again

Savabeel won't be starting in another Cox Plate- mission accomplished. He'll be at stud by the time the geldings are fighting it out next year.

Niello will be at Cootamundra by then. He is going to be tried again in the autumn, but his injury was pretty bad!! Lookout for Spikes though, wraps on him are huge. He WILL win a G1 in the autumn.

I would say that next years Cox Plate will almost certainly be won by a 4yo.

Probably something that emerges from obscurity during the Sydney autumn carnival.

Looks like the 4YO's should have a pretty good chance in the big ones next spring. If I had to tip 1 horse for the Cox Plate, I'll do a Monty Burns and simply say......Xcellent.

Let's not start tipping horses for the cox plate because Muirs might see the thread.
