Won a 1000m trial by 14 lengths in 55.8 seconds at Morphettville last Friday.

That makes no sense to me.

Why not save a performance like that for a real race?

Dunn knew the horse was travelling - what were his instructions - to break 54 seconds?

How much is left for his first up tilt in the 1000m Lightning at Flem on Feb 4?

Crazy.

I agree coathanger.

With a 2-3 weeks to his first up run I do not think a tough run will hurt him. Probably needs it to switch him on.

If it was the week of the race I would agree he should have been eased up.

I think they want to find out exactly where he is at so that he can placed to win. They would not want to aim at the lightning if he was not a big show in it.

Matt

Leave the training to the trainer.
He is the one that has done the hard yards, picking up sh&t, working in stables, waking up at 4am for years on end, gaining his license and now training.

For your information, the horse has been working very lazily, blinkers and a few other gear changes didn't change his attitude.
To the outsider it looked a bit odd that Dunn gave him a really good rev up down the straight and gave him a good belting.
This was because the horse is being lazy and they wanted to jazz him up a bit for his first up run.

Just do what you do best and sit in that arm-chair mug punter.

I'm certain that you won’t be backing it, first up.

You are being a sook, you know im right, and no, whether or not he runs well is not the point; the horse is being lazy, action is required.

You are without a doubt the rudest person on this forum Ribby and how you are allowed to still post is beyond me. I echo Gerry Jack's icehole comment.

aAbloke i know owns a horse in the same trial and he said undoubtedbly was in awesome form and that kavanagh couldnt be more happy with it....ive been told to get on it first up as the only reason it didnt do any good last prep was the conditions and conditions only.

It needs firm going...that whole lazy thing is a load of hogwash

Hahaha hogwash......

Just so happens my best mate works for Kavanagh, so you can put the hogwash theory in your pipe and smoke it arm chair punter.

And to Mooksta...

The only reason I AM NOW rude is because over a period of 5 years I have witnessed time and time again losers on this forum thinking they know better than professional trainers. It makes me laugh.

What would you say if you were a chef and Mark Kavanagh posted on Chef's weekly telling you how to cook? It's just absolutely laughable.

You blokes think you know something about an art that you have no idea about. Just because you 'punt' on horses does not mean you have any idea how to train them nor have any reason to question Kavanagh's training tactics of the horse.

Rude Ribby

Could that be the reason Why the colt won the Blue Diamond when the blinkers went on at 25/1.

Could it be that he is a loafer without them?
Who's speaking hogwash now cummo?

This whole topic takes me back to the time that some of the arm-chair trainers on this site were trying to tell me that Robbie Liang could not get Pantani to win first up over 32oo metres on 1000 metre gallops.

LMAO LOL!!

Let's just cut a long story short and i'll just say he duly saluted.

And I never said anything about last prep Cummo, I never said he was veing lazy last prep mate. All I said was he is being lazy in his recent trackwork which is why they did what they did in the trial, so the conditions you speak of last prep that didn;t suit him have nothing to do with this topic.

anyone stop to think that the horse might have needed a good " pipe" opener? A good sprinter can win when not fully fit, but still the the pipes nice and clean.
