Message: The Dream Teams on the AFL and Herald Sun websites are run by the same people (virtualsports), but are two DIFFERENT competitions.
The AFL (Nutri Grain) Dream Team runs the same way as it has in the past, that is, fixed +/- amounts for kicks, handballs, marks etc. The second, or newer comp on the H-Sun website uses numbers from Champion Data rankings. There are fifty or so unique events (long kicks, clangers, hardball gets, effective kicks etc.) in a game that goes to make up Champion Data, just keep in mind that the two competitions are ranked/rated/scored very differently.
For instance, in the NAB Cup final by Champion Data rankings Paul Chapman top-scored for Geelong with 153 and Simon Goodwin for Adelaide with 96. By the Nutri Grain comp points scale they scored 122 and 95 respectively. Another more glaring example is Jimmy Bartel (69 Champion Data/H-Sun website, 108 Nutri Grain/AFL website).
Hope this clears up any misconceptions. Oh, and one tip, Chad Fletcher racks them up in the Nutri Grain comp, but doesn't fare so well with Champion Data.....
