The calling yesterday at Flemington was just woeful, in nearly every race he would call the leader for about 10-15 secs and just repeat its name, no disrespect but just not upto standard.
Even my girlfriend thought he was a shocker.
Not to mention the fact that they ran out of racebooks before the 3rd race.
Not usually any complaints about the VRC but yesterday wasn't a great day.

And he missed the start (badly) on a few races - especially the Standish - he was still fumbling around in his pocket full of umms and errs while they were possying up on the rail 50m after the start. Anyone know who it was? (and where he'd spent NYE?)

I was only interested in the Standish and I thought the caller sounded like he was a calling a harness race in the Kimberley. If that was the pattern throughout the day, it must have been a bit embarrassing for both the VRC and the race-caller.

Pretty sure it was Rob Testa from Sport 927; a fair caller normally IMO; did he have a bad day?

He does call the greyhounds a lot, so a three minute affair like the Bagot may well have found him out.

It think it was Rick McIntosh. He normally does the bush meetings. l find him quite entertaining, maybe he was a little bit out of his comfort zone.

Wasn't it Brian Markovic?

He's the joker who normally gets the Sunday "B" circuit at Tatura and wide joints like that.

He knows every non-metropolitan based jockey's nickname - but that's about it.

McGarret out

Anyone hear today the caller at Geelong throw the phone? They jumped and it starting ringing, he stopped the call you hear a loud bang and rattle then he starts calling again. thought it was gold.

Ice,

I think it was Rick McIntosh.

Rob Testa is a great caller but he is the doyen of dishlickers in Melb like PA in Sydney.

Niggel, why didn't you say Joe Brown or Ken Howard, Rob Testa hasn't called a metro race for nearly 20 years.

And McGarret, just a bit off the mark, Markovic does SE Vic as a rule, Tatura is not normally where you find him. In fact I doubt he has ever called there.

Not the brightest response from the forum.

Nevertheless, I reckon Markovic and both McIntosh's are excellent. Especially when BM is calling Super Sal.

Got your eye on the ball there, Mac.

Book him Danno - Hoop Overfamiliarity One.

Rick McIntosh called NY Day at Flemington. I thought his last 200m were good all day, got nice and excited. But he went too early in the Bagot and at one point took a ten second pause. Also got the distances to go in running wrong a couple of times.

Was at Geelong on Friday, actually looked up at the box from the front lawn when the phone was ringing, looked like it was pissing Olszanski off so he reached over and grabbed it off the hook and smashed it down...quite funny!
