For plod's sake. Why does the Channel Nine US Open Australian commentary team make us look like a backwater in refusing to learn the correct pronunciation of players' names.

Example: Women's Final.

'Woz-knee-ack-ee' - INCORRECT

It is VOZ-KNEE-A (as in apple)- SKEE'

'Cl-igh-sters' - INCORRECT

It is CLAY-STERS.

My daily dose comes from a bloke called John Thwaite who reads the odds on Sport 927 in Vic.

Muzzlebrook and Elbion Park are two of his best.

My handmaidens have conducted further research and it seems that in Danish, the name Wozniacki is pronounced VOZ-NEE-A (as in Argentina)-KEE. However, there is no excuse for 'W' replacing the 'V'.

I thought this was going to be about the way they show it after the event has been decided and act as if it's live.

Ahh yes, the 'handmaidens'.
The key word there being 'hand'

How are your imaginary little playmates going?
Still resembling Teletubbies or have you replaced your imaginary workforce with Oompa-Loompas.

Still swinging in the breeze, I see.

Couldnt agree more Infidel. Im not a huge fan of tennis, but come Grand Slam finals time Im like a lot of people, I like to watch the sport at its best.

What a joke to think people are so gullible to swallow the delayed telecast and expect them to tune in.

Tigger,

For those who don't have Foxtel then they're happy to watch the delayed telecast but that works fine as long as you don't listen to a radio update etc.

Lol, of course it would Jones. Who in their right mind would want to watch a Grand Slam final live when there's far more quality viewing to be had with the Today Show

Why stop there, lets delay the NRL and AFL GF's until after 7pm when everyones home.

This is a perfect opportunity for me to recycle an old Kepler Wessels joke for a new generation.

Journo (to Wozniacki): and finally, there's been quite a bit of discussion about how to pronounce your surname and I'm hoping you can help resolve it once and for all. Is it pronounced Wozniacki or Vozniacki?

Wozniaki: It's pronounced Vozniacki.

Journo: Thank you very much for your time today.

Wozniacki: You're velcome.

Tiggsy,

For those who don't have Foxtel, many of those people still enjoy watching the delayed telecast. You do understand that is quite reasonable don't you and that I'm not trying to bat for delayed telecasts.

Tic, it seems the point is lost on you.

Beside, why would I get Foxtel when just about everything available there is freely available online.
