Message: Very tricky affair - luck and ride will undoubtedly play a big part in the result given field size and track.
Don't like the horse in general but Trusting is surely on the cusp of a G1 providing he has done well over there. Might be time to get on.
Last 3 runs over the mile at G1 level have yielded: - 1.3l 2nd to more Joyous in the George Main at WFA; - half head 2nd to Capt Sonador in the Epsom; - 0.8l fifth to Wall St in the Emirates when ridden a bit too close to the pace from a wide barrier.
Well drawn in 5, 'reasonable' weight (deserves less than 3.5 over the limit but paying the price for consistency without winning), not sure about the jock (at this venue) although he now has a G1 in the bag.
Anyone heard/read about Trusting's progress in the west?
Message: I'll be having something on Gathering. Form is a bit all over the place (seems to be a trend with the Patinack / John Thompson trained horses to bob up in big races at a price after indifferent form) but did have one big win this prep at Flemington. Strikes me as a decent lightweight chance as hes a bit better off against Snipers Bullet than previous runs.
Message: Snorks really like Colour Correct here, gets in very well with the 53kg with the Pontiff to steer. Ran a very good 3rd in this race last year after drawing 17 and being wide throughout and is going alot better this time in, has been trained to the minute.
Message: I don't know if Powerquest still posts/reads this forum but he is a pretty switched on bloke so anything he says about the carnival over there this year is gonna be worth hearing.
Message: Like the locals this year. For Your Eyes Only at the weights stands out as value for mine, based on last run. But I think Colour Correct might be the way to go. Smart money is suggesting as such. Also throw Tarzi in there.
Black Piranha might go alright from the Eastern contingent. Has been specifically set for the WA G1 double. Trusting on the other hand looks to be chasing these as an afterthought (make that a second afterthought, after the first afterthough, being the Emirates).

Message: Same West Coast I'm here too but not in the Metro. Haven't been to a Railway for a few years so looking forward to it. Didn't mind Tarzi a bit but the barrier has cooled me somewhat $9 out to $15 maybe one for the Tri but needs luck.
This is how I see it.
Pace
Lots of pace in the race Mekong will sit outside Gathering, Imp Jeuney will be on there back, A couple that drew double figures will go back will have to ride for luck. Maybe with the exception of Snipers but will be 3 wide the trip.
Position
Trusting Grand Nir should possie up well so good ones for the multiples, not 100% on CC winning but has a show. Don't know if I'm barking up the wrong tree, thought Megatic was over the odds and took some of the $31ew the type of horse that you may find sneak along the rail(i know it's drawn 10)Paddy will know 6 or 7 wide on the corner won't help. Carried 57 in this race last year 54.5 this year. Look at the weight turnaround from the Northerly Stakes 2 starts ago. I love em 3rd up over a mile.
Can't Win
Anything behind Famous Roman on the corner cannot and will not win it's sectionals have been outstanding.
Lots of Chances in a open race an thought CC was unders.I would have 3 @ 5.50 to $6.00 CC Trust and Fam Ro. and 10/1 the rest
Top picks for me
Famous Roman is the one, Trusting( best from the east, long prep but)Megatic for a bit of value and Colour Corect.
Blanket go for 5th & 6th these include , Grand Nir, Imp Jeu , FYE only, God has Spoken and maybe Tarzi and Inarticulate.
the 58's and double figure barriers turn me off the top 3
Will be warm on Saturday too.
Throw in anything that Wes likes from the yard, I rate his opinion when you can't see em. Decent bloke too.
Message: Very keen on Trusting. Freeze the Emirates field at the 800 and the four widest horses are the first four home - he was the only one anywhere near the rail to be thereabouts at the finish. Was a huge run. I'm unloading.

Message: Trusting winning wouldnt surprise but I wouldnt back that gunna with stolen money especially unload Mr Grieves. One of the better descions i made sacking it. I'll come back later with a tip.
Message: Tarzi for me, don't think the gate's an issue, will get back with good speed on, S. Parnham riding well, and stable flying.
Stinking hot Perth weather worries me for raiders, Eastern States horses don't have a real good record in the race, but that maybe because until recently it was an "after thought" race for Vic and NSW horses.
Message: Close to the money posting was before the scratching of meekong, this gave Gathering the leading role, it never looked back Was on 2nd and 3rd both each way.
Did punt gathering but for someone else ( their only bet for the day) you would think I would of got the TRI but nope.
The day was looking ordinary till Grand Jardine got me out in the last.
Outside the railway One for the Black Book on a leaders track Geyser Peak won't be far from a win soon
